The Journey

I grew up in Bozeman, MT, but later moved to Seattle in the late 90s. In 2000, I played an important role in the startup of Silver Stag, their first year of business, where I handmade Stag handle knives and worked as the director of operations until 2006. Initially, we started in a 1,600 sq/ft warehouse. However, by 2005, the company had expanded to Blaine, WA into a 15,000 sq/ft building. After the move, I helped them grow the business in Blaine, WA before returning to Montana.

In 2006, I started working at Gibson Guitar and continued working there for eight years. I began in the shipping department and worked my way up to the finish work on the guitar. My specialty involved repairing the finished work on handmade acoustic guitars, which often required working with exotic woods. During my time at Gibson Guitar, I implemented a strategic manufacturing system that improved the efficiency of production.

In 2014, I was invited to work at Spyderco, a custom knife factory located in Golden Colorado. There, I supervised the finishing, tumbling, and engraving department. We were responsible for all the detailed work on blades, from the finish to the hand sharpening of the blade to precise angles. In my department, we did all the grinding by hand, and I taught my employees the art of hand grinding, which I credit to my Japanese heritage and love of the art. We achieved unique finishes through various techniques.

In 2023, I moved to Michigan with a dream of producing my own knives and providing sharpening and other miscellaneous services to the public and my community.

The heartfelt intent of my business is to honor military vets, service members, and law enforcement as well as involvement in various charities such as Wounded Warriors and ALS research.
